Concetta came to Des Moines in 1987 to teach at the Des Moines Art Center and began work as a studio artist at the Fitch Studios (formerly the BMS Building). She holds her M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Once in Iowa, Concetta found a home and the lifestyle she enjoys and has remained, participating in broadening the artistic exposure and opportunities for Iowa communities ever since. She has encouraged and enlightened many of all ages in her years of teaching at DMAC, Iowa State University and as an Iowa Arts Council visiting artist.

In addition, Concetta is also a talented and recognized mosaic muralist having done works locally and around the Midwest. Her mosaics address contemporary subject matter with an energetic language of color and composition, often enlisting the ideas and images of the participants into the process. The materials she uses express uniqueness and durability.
